A Look at the New Jedi Force

Jedi Force pics at HansHideout.comThere’s little doubt that Toy Fair was disappointing for me — it brought us the end of the Galactic Heroes.  Perhaps I suspected that this was coming since we’ve had absolutely no news about the line for months, but I certainly didn’t want to believe it.  So it’s taken me a couple days to adjust to the news.  (Sheesh, you’d think a family member had died the way I’m acting).

So what are we left with?  Hasbro is going to replace the line to compete head to head with Fisher Price’s Imaginext line by creating figures that are in a similar style, renaming the line as Jedi Force.

It’s taken me a little time to look at these figures objectively, but I can see these are actually pretty neat looking figures.  They have much more articulation that the Galactic Heroes figures did, making them easier to fit in the accompanying vehicles.   They’ve actually reissued the Snowspeeder and Anakin’s Starfighter, so obviously the vehicles will continue to fit right in with the Galactic Heroes ships we’ve already got.  I guess I’m feeling renewed optimism.

To give you a look at these figures, I’m linking you to the pics taken by Jeff at Han’s Hideout.  He’s done a great job of showcasing these new figures, including Hasbro’s other Playskool Heroes lines: Marvel Comics’ Super Hero Adventures and Transformers’ Rescue Bots.

This is the end…

Instead of Toy Fair bringing us exciting news about upcoming releases for the Galactic Heroes line, it has brought us quite the opposite. Yes, our pint sized line is being shelved. In its place will be some figures similar to the Jedi Force ones from a couple years ago, but made smaller. Disappointing news, to say the least. Thanks to The Stolen CCG License for the news.

Toy Fair is Coming!

Arguably the biggest toy event of the year, Toy Fair is coming next week!  Taking place in New York as always, 2011’s version runs from Sun Feb 13 to Wed Feb 16.  It is a chance for toy manufacturers to really show off the items coming up for the year, and Hasbro is always a huge participant.  Which means this is a great opportunity for us to learn about their plans for our beloved Galactic Heroes for 2011.  And a chance for us to speculate about what they will reveal — so what do you want to see?

A Peek Inside the AT-AT

There are some great pics of the AT-AT across the net as it was on display at Toy Fair, but until today I hadn’t found one showing some of the action features on the beast.  Thanks to this image from ComicFigs.net, we get a look at a couple of its movable parts.  It’s likely no surprise, but the head flips open for put your AT-AT Driver to sit and guide the walker towards the Rebel bunker.  As well, you can see the body has a door that opens and gives you room for your troopers to ride into battle.  It appears the Speeder Bike should easily fit inside as well.  It would be great to see the back of that packaging for more features!

Cinema Scenes Change to Vehicle Line

Hasbro made it very clear at Toy Fair that the Cinema Scene line would be ending for our beloved Galactic Heroes.  What they didn’t make very clear was what would replace them.  Thanks to Yodasnews‘ video coverage of the Hasbro presentation, we have a better idea of what to expect.  Check out the video below and you’ll hear the presenter state “Galactic Heroes Cinema sets will be going away and replaced by a new Galactic Heroes Vehicle that we will be showing you in a little bit.”  Obviously he’s referring to the AT-AT, so it appears the Cinema Scenes will change to an entirely vehicle focused line.  Many thanks to the heads up from GH Customs.

Toy Fair: Cinema Scenes

In terms of revealing new Cinema Scenes, Toy Fair did not show us anything brand spanking new.  It’s great to see confirmation of Wave 2, which includes Anakin’s ROTS Jedi Starfighter and Jango Fett’s Slave I, though these sets were originally discovered back at the end of November.  This wave will see stores very soon.  Check out Rebelscum’s gallery for some nice loose shots, starting on image 32.

The most disappointing news of Toy Fair is that Cinema Scenes are coming to an end!  This blogger believes that surely Hasbro knows there are more vehicles that need to be released.  Even though the Cinema Scene format is ending, hopefully vehicles will still see release in the future, perhaps as individual ships rather than including figures.  I’ll be scrutinizing sites for info about this…

Toy Fair: 2-Packs

Toy Fair has revealed some fantastic looking new figures for later this year!  We’ve already seen images of Wave 1, but Wave 2 is a nice surprise, including Republic Commandos and some Clone Wars characters.  Wave 2 will appear on the pegs in August and includes the following:

  • Republic Commandos 2-pack
  • Clone Trooper & “Snow Bunny” Padme
  • Ahsoka Tano & Anakin Skywalker
  • Aurra Sing & Cad Bane

For a little closer look at these figures, check out Rebelscum’s gallery (starting at image 38).

Toy Fair: AT-AT

The New York Toy Fair has begun!  First up are some images of the long awaited All-Terrain Armored Transport, Galactic Heroes style.  It has some electronics, like lights and sounds, and also includes an AT-AT Driver and Speeder Bike.  It will be in stores in August, when the entire Star Wars line is rebooting itself for 2010.  It doesn’t appear to be an exclusive, so hopefully it will be available in all of your local stores.  Check out Rebelscum’s gallery (starting at image 27) for a few loose shots – you’re gonna love it!
