Galactic Heroes Get Stickered

Rebelscum.com reports that the latest wave of 2-packs include stickers of various Clone Wars characters in their Galactic Heroes form.  They can be placed on a mini poster to create your own picture.  So be sure to watch for them at the bottom of the package!

A Peek Inside the AT-AT

There are some great pics of the AT-AT across the net as it was on display at Toy Fair, but until today I hadn’t found one showing some of the action features on the beast.  Thanks to this image from ComicFigs.net, we get a look at a couple of its movable parts.  It’s likely no surprise, but the head flips open for put your AT-AT Driver to sit and guide the walker towards the Rebel bunker.  As well, you can see the body has a door that opens and gives you room for your troopers to ride into battle.  It appears the Speeder Bike should easily fit inside as well.  It would be great to see the back of that packaging for more features!

2010’s Wave 2 Cinema Scenes Found at Target!

To my surprise, I came across a report on the Rebelscum forums that Jango’s Slave I (Escape from Kamino) and Anakin’s ROTS Starfighter (Attack on the Invisible Hand) have been spotted at Target.  I guess Hasbro wasn’t kidding at Toy Fair when they said these would be “on shelf soon” (see pics in my earlier post).  Let the hunt continue!

Cinema Scenes Change to Vehicle Line

Hasbro made it very clear at Toy Fair that the Cinema Scene line would be ending for our beloved Galactic Heroes.  What they didn’t make very clear was what would replace them.  Thanks to Yodasnews‘ video coverage of the Hasbro presentation, we have a better idea of what to expect.  Check out the video below and you’ll hear the presenter state “Galactic Heroes Cinema sets will be going away and replaced by a new Galactic Heroes Vehicle that we will be showing you in a little bit.”  Obviously he’s referring to the AT-AT, so it appears the Cinema Scenes will change to an entirely vehicle focused line.  Many thanks to the heads up from GH Customs.

Toy Fair: Cinema Scenes

In terms of revealing new Cinema Scenes, Toy Fair did not show us anything brand spanking new.  It’s great to see confirmation of Wave 2, which includes Anakin’s ROTS Jedi Starfighter and Jango Fett’s Slave I, though these sets were originally discovered back at the end of November.  This wave will see stores very soon.  Check out Rebelscum’s gallery for some nice loose shots, starting on image 32.

The most disappointing news of Toy Fair is that Cinema Scenes are coming to an end!  This blogger believes that surely Hasbro knows there are more vehicles that need to be released.  Even though the Cinema Scene format is ending, hopefully vehicles will still see release in the future, perhaps as individual ships rather than including figures.  I’ll be scrutinizing sites for info about this…

Toy Fair: 2-Packs

Toy Fair has revealed some fantastic looking new figures for later this year!  We’ve already seen images of Wave 1, but Wave 2 is a nice surprise, including Republic Commandos and some Clone Wars characters.  Wave 2 will appear on the pegs in August and includes the following:

  • Republic Commandos 2-pack
  • Clone Trooper & “Snow Bunny” Padme
  • Ahsoka Tano & Anakin Skywalker
  • Aurra Sing & Cad Bane

For a little closer look at these figures, check out Rebelscum’s gallery (starting at image 38).

Toy Fair: AT-AT

The New York Toy Fair has begun!  First up are some images of the long awaited All-Terrain Armored Transport, Galactic Heroes style.  It has some electronics, like lights and sounds, and also includes an AT-AT Driver and Speeder Bike.  It will be in stores in August, when the entire Star Wars line is rebooting itself for 2010.  It doesn’t appear to be an exclusive, so hopefully it will be available in all of your local stores.  Check out Rebelscum’s gallery (starting at image 27) for a few loose shots – you’re gonna love it!

2010’s Wave 1 In Stock at HTS

This year’s first wave of 2-packs is now IN STOCK at Hasbro Toy Shop!  They are priced at $6.99 each, not too bad.

The 4 double packs are:

  • ARF Trooper & Anakin Skywalker
  • Clone Gunner & Rocket Battle Droid
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi & Commander Fil
  • Stormtrooper & Darth Vader

Thanks to GH Customs for the heads up.

New Cinema Scenes Found at Retail

The latest Cinema Scenes have been found at Target!  Ando at SirStevesGuide reports finding the Y-Wing Bomber and Assault at Ryloth sets in Oregon, so let the hunt begin…

Photo Guide: Slave I

I think it’s safe to say that the set I’ve been most excited to get my hands on is Boba Fett’s Slave I, so with it finally in hand, it will make a great start for my Photo Guide.

The Slave I Cinema Scene was released in late 2009 and includes 3 pieces:  Boba Fett,  Han in Carbonite, and of course the Slave I itself.  Boba Fett is the ESB version, meaning he has green gauntlets, but he is a resculpt from the previously released version.  Han is also a new version — the carbonite block is only 1/4″ thick compared to the older 1/2″ thick one.  Fett sits nicely in the cockpit and can be held in place with the footpeg. When the wings are rotated, the seat rotates as well, and as long as Fett’s blaster is tucked in, there’s no problem performing the rotation.  Han in Carbonite actually slips in through the bottom of the ship and it’s a pretty tight fit.  I found that sliding him in head first prevented him from getting jammed in there and he was still reasonably removable.  The other bit of articulation on the Slave I is the guns — they’ll also rotate depending on which way you want the ship facing.

If you open the packaging carefully, you’ll get a background of Cloud City for display.  It should even last a little while for kids to enjoy it for play purposes, though of course the cardboard will have a fairly limited life.

Overall, I have to say it’s a fantastic set.

Quick summary of included pieces:

  • Boba Fett – ESB (green gauntlets), bent arm – new sculpt
  • Han in Carbonite – 1/4″ thick – new sculpt
  • Slave I
