And a day later, they’re on the shelves!

After just reporting the Purchase of the Droids and Kamino Showdown sets being displayed at SDCC, they’ve been found at retail!  And the AT-AT as well!

Check out the great boxed images from briggsith at POTF2.com.  He’s also got carded shots of the new 2-packs, so be sure to check them out!

Preview Night at Comic Con

2010’s edition of the San Diego Comic Con has begun!  Wednesday is the traditional Preview Night, and a number of sites have some great pics of Hasbro’s displays.  Check out TNI to see all the newest 2-packs and the AT-AT on display.  One very encouraging thing is the presence of the Purchase of the Droids and the Kamino Showdown Cinema Scenes – they really are coming!  And I was starting to give up on them, shame on me.  ; )

The Broken Record Skips Again…

The Toys R Us exclusive Cinema Scenes that we’ve been waiting for for months have been pushed back to August.  Anyone else annoyed?  It certainly makes sense that these would be released at the same time as the rest of the 2010 Star Wars launch, but it’s just getting a little old hearing that they are being delayed.  Again.

From Hasbro’s recent Q&A:

YodasNews.com (Mark): I know that I am beginning to sound like a broken record when it comes to these new Galactic Heroes Cinema Scenes; but we are now going on June with no sign of the “Kamino Showdown” and “Purchase of the Droids” sets. In a previous Q&A, you told us that we would be seeing these sets back in March. I am beginning to worry that these are going to be cancelled; but you have already told us that you have the packaged samples and that they are ready to go to retail once Toys R Us clears out some older Cinema Scenes sets. Please tell me that that is still the case!! Mesa wants to get my grubby paws on those awesome sets. Thanks!

Hasbro: There was still too much of the previous Cinema Scenes on shelf so the original ship date was pushed out while the existing stick cleared out. It should be all set now, and they are shipping to support an 8/1 on shelf.

Hasbro’s QnA Summary

The Galactic Heroes received some nice attention during this session’s Hasbro Q&A.  Check out the following site’s questions and Hasbro’s responses.

One of the best pieces of news is that although the Cinema Scenes subline is going on hiatus, they still plan on  producing more vehicles!

Thanks to ARBCOToys for the handy summary at TheRumorBuster.

From JediNews:
1.  We’re sorry to see the Galactic Heroes Cinema Scenes go. What does this mean for Galactic Heroes in terms of future vehicles and additional figures – will we continue to see vehicles or will the 2 packs be the only outlet for Galactic Heroes moving forward (and will we see all four Republic Commandos as Galactic Heroes) and finally, are we likely to see a return to the Cinema Scenes sometime in the future?

Something had to give way to make room for the Galactic Heroes AT-AT, so it was decided to put the Cinema Scenes on hiatus as a mainline offering.  There still may be exclusive Cinema Scenes here and there to take advantage of the cool vehicle library we have built up.  As for the other Commandos, we hope that they will find their way into the lineup at some point, but it won’t be for a while if so.

From Raving Toy Maniac:
Does the Galactic Heroes AT-AT’s head open to allow access to figures? If so, how many figures?

Answer: Yes, the head will open to fit one figure.

From Yodasnews:
YN: With the Galactic Heroes Cinema Scenes being put “on hold” will we still see the Purchase of the Droids and Kamino set?

Hasbro: Yes, they got pushed out due to Toys ‘R Us asking for a re-release of some of their previous Cinema Scenes. We are back on track, and these will be coming later this Spring to Toys ‘R Us.

Toys R Us Sets Are Still Coming!

It was nearly a year ago at Toy Fair 2009 that Hasbro announced two upcoming Cinema Scenes exclusive to Toys R Us: Kamino Showdown and Purchase of the Droids. In July, Han’s Hideout received images of the loose figures, but since then there has been little word on when they would be released and it had been feared they were cancelled altogether.  Thankfully, Yodasnews was able to confirm with Hasbro through the Q&A that these sets are indeed still coming and will likely be seen on shelves in March!  Thanks so much to Brian for the tip.

The question and answer went as follows:

YN: Any word as to when we might see those missing Galactic Heroes sets? The “Kamino Showdown” and “Purchase of Droids” sets were supposed to show up at TRU stores in August hit the shelf? So far we have neither heard nor seen anything. Have these sets been cancelled? Please say NO. Thanks!

Hasbro: It’s taken a while for the previous TRU Galactic heroes Cinema Scenes to move through retail, but right now we are looking at March on-shelf. We have packaged samples ourselves so they should be shipping soon if all goes well.
