A Look at the New Jedi Force

Jedi Force pics at HansHideout.comThere’s little doubt that Toy Fair was disappointing for me — it brought us the end of the Galactic Heroes.  Perhaps I suspected that this was coming since we’ve had absolutely no news about the line for months, but I certainly didn’t want to believe it.  So it’s taken me a couple days to adjust to the news.  (Sheesh, you’d think a family member had died the way I’m acting).

So what are we left with?  Hasbro is going to replace the line to compete head to head with Fisher Price’s Imaginext line by creating figures that are in a similar style, renaming the line as Jedi Force.

It’s taken me a little time to look at these figures objectively, but I can see these are actually pretty neat looking figures.  They have much more articulation that the Galactic Heroes figures did, making them easier to fit in the accompanying vehicles.   They’ve actually reissued the Snowspeeder and Anakin’s Starfighter, so obviously the vehicles will continue to fit right in with the Galactic Heroes ships we’ve already got.  I guess I’m feeling renewed optimism.

To give you a look at these figures, I’m linking you to the pics taken by Jeff at Han’s Hideout.  He’s done a great job of showcasing these new figures, including Hasbro’s other Playskool Heroes lines: Marvel Comics’ Super Hero Adventures and Transformers’ Rescue Bots.

This is the end…

Instead of Toy Fair bringing us exciting news about upcoming releases for the Galactic Heroes line, it has brought us quite the opposite. Yes, our pint sized line is being shelved. In its place will be some figures similar to the Jedi Force ones from a couple years ago, but made smaller. Disappointing news, to say the least. Thanks to The Stolen CCG License for the news.

Toy Fair is Coming!

Arguably the biggest toy event of the year, Toy Fair is coming next week!  Taking place in New York as always, 2011’s version runs from Sun Feb 13 to Wed Feb 16.  It is a chance for toy manufacturers to really show off the items coming up for the year, and Hasbro is always a huge participant.  Which means this is a great opportunity for us to learn about their plans for our beloved Galactic Heroes for 2011.  And a chance for us to speculate about what they will reveal — so what do you want to see?

Photo Guide: Republic Commandos Fixer and Boss

The Republic Commando video game was a huge hit with Star Wars fans and gamers alike, so it’s great for them to finally receive some attention in the form of Galactic Heroes.  The first 2 members of Delta Squad to be created are the green-striped Fixer and the orange-trimmed Boss.  Both figures are impressive, and really stand out among the other Clones created in the line.

Wishlist #2: Figures!

OK, so we’ve tackled the vehicles we’d like to see make in Galactic Heroes scale, but now it’s time to get down to the meat of the matter, the figures themselves!  I’m going to open the floor to any idea you guys and gals can come up with, whether it’s characters that have never been in GH form before, or even versions you’d like to see redone.  Use your imagination!  Let’s go with a Top 20 – if you can’t come up with that many, no problem, just suggest what you want in the Comments section.

Fred Meyer Deals

If you’ve got a Fred Meyer in your neighbourhood, head over and check out their deal on Galactic Heroes.  They’re only $4 each, plus there is a 10% off deal on top of that, so it’s worth making the stop!  Thanks to Amy for the heads up.

Vehicle Wishlist – The Results!

I’ve got to say that I was amazed and impressed with all the vehicles that people want to see made!  So what was the number one choice?  With 16 votes, it was the Republic Gunship!  That certainly makes sense, considering its importance in the prequels and especially in the current Clone Wars cartoon.  But very close behind in 2nd place with 14 votes was the TIE Fighter, the workhorse of the Empire.  The TIE was this blogger’s personal number 1 choice. ;)

Here is the Top 10:

  • Republic Gunship
  • TIE Fighter
  • Sandcrawler
  • A-Wing
  • Imperial Shuttle
  • Star Destroyer
  • TIE Bomber
  • Death Star
  • Landspeeder
  • Y-Wing Fighter (Original Trilogy)

And for the curious, to round out the Top 15:

  • Anakin’s Podracer
  • Grievous’ Wheelbike
  • Bantha
  • Sail Barge
  • Twilight / Vulture Droid  (tied)

Thanks again to everyone that participated, and watch for another wishlist coming very soon.

Vehicle Wishlist – Let’s get your ideas!

I’ve decided it’s time to make this place a little more interactive.  Hasbro has become more involved with the online community and what they want to see from various toy lines, so why don’t we let them know what Galactic Heroes need to be made?  We’ll start with vehicles.  And we’ll make this fairly easy – suggest up to 10 vehicles you want, simply by posting in the comments (less than 10 is fine, whatever you can come up with).  Let’s see how many ideas we can generate before the end of October!  I’d like to thank a regular reader, GH Customs, for his encouragement to get this started.

Quinlan Vos and Barriss Offee Confirmed!

When Hasbro presented the upcoming wave of Galactic Heroes at Celebration V, they were only able to show us three out of the four 2-packs. Rumours swirled as to who the final pair of characters could be, and we now have confirmation that it will be Quinlan Vos and Barriss Offee!  The evidence is seen in this eBay auction from a seller in China.

GH Animated Series Officially “Unconfirmed”

It looks like Hasbro doesn’t want to get involved in any questions regarding the rumoured upcoming animated Galactic Heroes TV show.  The following question was asked during the recent Q&A session:

From The Private Universe:

Q2) News is breaking of a new TV animation series based on Galactic Heroes toys. Are there any plans to relaunch, repackage, add new characters or anything else that Hasbro is doing related to this new series that you can share with us?

A2)This series has not been confirmed by Lucasfilm. Until it is, we don’t have any comments.
