And a day later, they’re on the shelves!

After just reporting the Purchase of the Droids and Kamino Showdown sets being displayed at SDCC, they’ve been found at retail!  And the AT-AT as well!

Check out the great boxed images from briggsith at POTF2.com.  He’s also got carded shots of the new 2-packs, so be sure to check them out!

Preview Night at Comic Con

2010′s edition of the San Diego Comic Con has begun!  Wednesday is the traditional Preview Night, and a number of sites have some great pics of Hasbro’s displays.  Check out TNI to see all the newest 2-packs and the AT-AT on display.  One very encouraging thing is the presence of the Purchase of the Droids and the Kamino Showdown Cinema Scenes – they really are coming!  And I was starting to give up on them, shame on me.  ; )

Snootles Gets Shunned

It appears that the Hasbro team has no plans to complete Jabba’s band.  We received Max Rebo and Droopy McCool in the ‘Jabba’s Sail Barge’ Cinema Scene, but it Sy Snootles is not on the radar anytime soon, as reported by SirStevesGuide in the Q&A:

SSG: Now that you’ve made Galactic Heroes figures of Max Rebo and Droopy McCool, there is a hole in the band. Why did Sy Snootles get left out of the set? Might Hasbro consider rounding out the original trio of palace band members by making a Sy Snootles Galactic Heroes figure? She would go great in a 2 pack with any of Jabba’s more prominent minions (Tessek, Ephant Mon, or Ree-Yees for instance) or perhaps Oola or cloak-wearing Luke. Seeing as these more obscure Galactic Heroes figures are fan-driven, if you were to make a Sy figure would it be based on her classic “vintage” appearance?

Hasbro: We have no plans to make a Sy Snootles or some of the other figures. Galactic Heroes seems to be overwhelmingly kid-driven, and aside from a few 2-packs with relatively obscure characters later this year, we’ll be sticking to known and recognized characters going forward.

The Broken Record Skips Again…

The Toys R Us exclusive Cinema Scenes that we’ve been waiting for for months have been pushed back to August.  Anyone else annoyed?  It certainly makes sense that these would be released at the same time as the rest of the 2010 Star Wars launch, but it’s just getting a little old hearing that they are being delayed.  Again.

From Hasbro’s recent Q&A:

YodasNews.com (Mark): I know that I am beginning to sound like a broken record when it comes to these new Galactic Heroes Cinema Scenes; but we are now going on June with no sign of the “Kamino Showdown” and “Purchase of the Droids” sets. In a previous Q&A, you told us that we would be seeing these sets back in March. I am beginning to worry that these are going to be cancelled; but you have already told us that you have the packaged samples and that they are ready to go to retail once Toys R Us clears out some older Cinema Scenes sets. Please tell me that that is still the case!! Mesa wants to get my grubby paws on those awesome sets. Thanks!

Hasbro: There was still too much of the previous Cinema Scenes on shelf so the original ship date was pushed out while the existing stick cleared out. It should be all set now, and they are shipping to support an 8/1 on shelf.

Hasbro’s QnA Summary

The Galactic Heroes received some nice attention during this session’s Hasbro Q&A.  Check out the following site’s questions and Hasbro’s responses.

One of the best pieces of news is that although the Cinema Scenes subline is going on hiatus, they still plan on  producing more vehicles!

Thanks to ARBCOToys for the handy summary at TheRumorBuster.

From JediNews:
1.  We’re sorry to see the Galactic Heroes Cinema Scenes go. What does this mean for Galactic Heroes in terms of future vehicles and additional figures – will we continue to see vehicles or will the 2 packs be the only outlet for Galactic Heroes moving forward (and will we see all four Republic Commandos as Galactic Heroes) and finally, are we likely to see a return to the Cinema Scenes sometime in the future?

Something had to give way to make room for the Galactic Heroes AT-AT, so it was decided to put the Cinema Scenes on hiatus as a mainline offering.  There still may be exclusive Cinema Scenes here and there to take advantage of the cool vehicle library we have built up.  As for the other Commandos, we hope that they will find their way into the lineup at some point, but it won’t be for a while if so.

From Raving Toy Maniac:
Does the Galactic Heroes AT-AT’s head open to allow access to figures? If so, how many figures?

Answer: Yes, the head will open to fit one figure.

From Yodasnews:
YN: With the Galactic Heroes Cinema Scenes being put “on hold” will we still see the Purchase of the Droids and Kamino set?

Hasbro: Yes, they got pushed out due to Toys ‘R Us asking for a re-release of some of their previous Cinema Scenes. We are back on track, and these will be coming later this Spring to Toys ‘R Us.

Jango and Anakin Cinema Scenes at HTS

For those of you eager to get your hands on the very latest Cinema Scenes, head over to HasbroToyShop!  The Attack on the Invisible Hand and Escape from Kamino sets are both in stock as we speak.   Many thanks to tlozier for the heads up!

2010′s Wave 2 Cinema Scenes Found at Target!

To my surprise, I came across a report on the Rebelscum forums that Jango’s Slave I (Escape from Kamino) and Anakin’s ROTS Starfighter (Attack on the Invisible Hand) have been spotted at Target.  I guess Hasbro wasn’t kidding at Toy Fair when they said these would be “on shelf soon” (see pics in my earlier post).  Let the hunt continue!

Cinema Scenes Change to Vehicle Line

Hasbro made it very clear at Toy Fair that the Cinema Scene line would be ending for our beloved Galactic Heroes.  What they didn’t make very clear was what would replace them.  Thanks to Yodasnews‘ video coverage of the Hasbro presentation, we have a better idea of what to expect.  Check out the video below and you’ll hear the presenter state “Galactic Heroes Cinema sets will be going away and replaced by a new Galactic Heroes Vehicle that we will be showing you in a little bit.”  Obviously he’s referring to the AT-AT, so it appears the Cinema Scenes will change to an entirely vehicle focused line.  Many thanks to the heads up from GH Customs.

Toy Fair: Cinema Scenes

In terms of revealing new Cinema Scenes, Toy Fair did not show us anything brand spanking new.  It’s great to see confirmation of Wave 2, which includes Anakin’s ROTS Jedi Starfighter and Jango Fett’s Slave I, though these sets were originally discovered back at the end of November.  This wave will see stores very soon.  Check out Rebelscum’s gallery for some nice loose shots, starting on image 32.

The most disappointing news of Toy Fair is that Cinema Scenes are coming to an end!  This blogger believes that surely Hasbro knows there are more vehicles that need to be released.  Even though the Cinema Scene format is ending, hopefully vehicles will still see release in the future, perhaps as individual ships rather than including figures.  I’ll be scrutinizing sites for info about this…

New Cinema Scenes Found at Retail

The latest Cinema Scenes have been found at Target!  Ando at SirStevesGuide reports finding the Y-Wing Bomber and Assault at Ryloth sets in Oregon, so let the hunt begin…
